I will soon be 45. I am well settled, recently back to my hometown after 15 years of living outside. Work is good, family is well. Hence, there aren’t many regrets.

However, I think there are a few things that I did right and did wrong (both inadvertently). Among them, the following 3 are the key

Stay invested in Education

The 20s is a time to bid adieu to education years, and welcome work life. It is a start to be more independent in life decisions. One of the mistakes people often do is look at this as the end of education years.

Education investment is a long one and should continue. Coming from a Software background, I have seen the technology landscape change dramatically over the years. Even if you aren’t from an ever-changing field, you should stay invested in education.

Be prudent about Life partner

It’s an important decision as your best & worst will be spent with him/her. Focus on meaningful requirements and not superficial ones. Look for a partner from a family, who has seen all ups & downs, and has equipped their children better to deal with such times.

All that glitters is not gold :)

Handle Money well

And it’s not about saving, but investment too. There are so many distractions that seem to sell so well. With a good disposable income at our service, it’s only too natural to give in to such distractions.

Investments that can grow overnight are rare. Most of the investments take time to build. Starting early is the key. The cushion that it gives you when you go through a troubled time, which will come irrespective, is incredible.

Happy life to all of you!
